Locking your Tesla Model 3 is easy and can be done in several ways. You can lock your Tesla Model 3 by using a key card, key fob, Tesla app, touchscreen, walk-away door lock, drive-away lock or manual door release.

Using a Key Card
To lock your Tesla Model 3 using a key card, hold the key card such that the side with the sensor is toward the vehicle. Place the sensor on the center pillar for 1–2 seconds until the car picks up the signal. When your side mirrors close, know that your Model 3 has been locked.
Using a Key Fob
To lock your Tesla Model 3 using a key fob, make sure your key fob is added to your Tesla system. Press the key fob’s middle once to lock the doors.
Using the Tesla App
To lock your Tesla Model 3 using the Tesla app, open your phone app. Locate the lock button and tap it to lock or unlock the vehicle.
Using the Touchscreen
To lock your Tesla Model 3 using the touchscreen, locate the lock icon on the Tesla Model 3 touchscreen. Tap it to lock or unlock the doors from inside the vehicle.
Using Walk-Away Door Lock
To use walk-away door lock, first make sure that your phone or key fob is paired with your Tesla and you’re carrying it in your pocket. Then enable walk-away mode by tapping Control > Locks > Enable “Walk-Away Door Lock”. Now get out of your car and walk six feet away from it. Your Tesla’s exterior lights will flash and side mirrors will fold indicating that your car has been locked.
