Do Your Old Model 3 Accessories Fit the Highland? (2026 Fitment Guide)

Quick answer: the platform did not change, the cabin did. The Highland keeps the same wheelbase, track and tire sizes as a 2017-2023 Model 3, so tires, jack pads and charging gear all transfer. Tesla rebuilt the interior, so anything cut to the cabin, the console, the screens, the trunk floor or the roof does not fit.

If you are moving from an older Model 3, budget for new floor mats, a new trunk liner and a new console organizer. Keep your tires, your jack pads and your mobile connector.

“Highland” is the nickname for the Model 3 refresh Tesla started building in 2024. If your car is a 2017 through 2023 Model 3, everything below assumes you are moving from that car to this one.

What actually changed on the Highland

This is the part that explains every row in the table above. Outside, almost nothing moved. Inside, almost everything did.

Now the cabin, which is where your old accessories stop fitting:

• The stalks are gone. Gear selection moved to the touchscreen and the turn signals became buttons on the steering wheel.
• There is a second screen. An 8 inch touchscreen sits on the back of the console for rear passengers.
• The console was redesigned. The sliding tray became a fixed one, and the wireless charging pads changed.
• The front seats are ventilated and the rear seat got a different recline angle and more cushioning.
• Trim and lighting changed: an ambient LED light bar, a textile dashboard, acoustic glass all the way around rather than just the front, and 17 speakers instead of 14.

Tires: the clean carry-over

This is the one that saves real money, and it is the one most guides get wrong. The Highland runs exactly the same tire sizes as the car it replaced. A set of winters bought for a 2021 Model 3 fits a 2025 Highland on the same wheel diameter, with no adapter and no modification.

Why the wheels look different anyway

Tesla renamed and restyled all three wheels, which is why you will see pages claiming wheel incompatibility. Be precise about what that means: the tire sizes are identical, the wheel designs are not. So your tires transfer, and anything shaped to the face of the old wheel does not. Aero covers cut for an Aero wheel will not clip onto a Photon, and rim protectors follow a different profile.

On the Performance car, remember the staggered fitment: 235/35R20 on the front axle and 275/30R20 on the rear. Two sizes, not one.

The cabin: where fitment breaks

Everything in this section is a re-buy. There is no way around it, because the parts your old accessories were moulded against no longer exist.

Floor mats, the most common mistake

Old Model 3 mats do not fit a Highland. The footwell was reshaped and the base of the rear console changed, so a mat cut for the older car leaves visible gaps at the edges and does not sit down against the console. This is the single most returned category of Tesla accessory, and it is almost always because someone bought “Model 3” rather than “Model 3 Highland”.

Check the listing names the Highland or the 2024 to 2026 model years explicitly. A listing that just says “Model 3” is usually the old shape.

The console, and why old organizers sit proud

The older Model 3 had a sliding console tray. The Highland’s is fixed, and the wireless charging pads were redesigned around it. An insert moulded for the sliding tray has nothing to locate against, so it rattles or sits above the lip rather than dropping in. Buy a Highland tray, or take the combo set above.

Screens: the front one changed and there is a new one in the back

Two separate problems. The front display’s panel and bezel are not the same as the older car’s, so an old protector will not line up. And the Highland added an 8 inch rear touchscreen on the back of the console, which no pre-2024 accessory anticipated. If you want both covered you are looking for a two piece Highland set, not a single film.

No stalks: what that kills

Stalk covers and stalk extenders are dead parts on a Highland, because there are no stalks. Steering wheel covers are a related casualty: the turn signals became buttons on the wheel itself, so a cover has to be cut around them. A wrap made for the older wheel will either block the buttons or not sit flat.

Phone mounts

Treat these as a re-buy too. The dash and the screen surround both changed, and sellers of Highland specific mounts are explicit that their parts do not fit 2018-2023 cars, which tells you the reverse is also true. If a listing does not name the Highland or the 2024 model year, assume it is the old shape.

Cargo: the trunk grew, the frunk did not

This is a useful split, because it means half your cargo gear survives.

The trunk went from 19.8 to 21.0 cubic feet. That extra volume came from reshaping the space, not from bolting on a bigger box, so a liner moulded for the older trunk sits wrong: it is short at the edges and it does not follow the new subfloor contours. Re-buy it.

The frunk is unchanged at 3.1 cubic feet. Frunk mats, tubs and organizers from an older Model 3 drop straight in. Nobody mentions this, and it is worth knowing before you throw a box out.

Outside the car

The body is 1 inch longer and sits 2 mm lower, and every panel forward of the windscreen is new. In practice that means the trim-shaped parts change and the chassis-shaped parts do not.

Jack pads carry over. The lift points did not move, and the common puck sets are sold as a single part covering Model 3, Y, S and X across generations. If you already own a set, keep it. If you do not, our jack pad guide covers what to look for.

Door sill guards do not. The sills were redesigned, so old guards sit off the edge.

Mud flaps: check before you order. The wheel arches carry over from a shared platform but the body is longer, and we could not find a definitive answer on whether older flaps line up. Highland specific sets exist and are the safe choice.

The roof sunshade does not carry over. The glass roof frame geometry changed with the refresh, and sellers consistently list Highland roof shades as a separate part from the 2017-2023 version. An old shade leaves gaps at the edges rather than seating against the frame.

What we cannot confirm yet

Three items in the table say “check first” rather than yes or no. Here is exactly why, so you can judge for yourself rather than take our word for it.

• Cabin air filters. The OEM part is listed as covering 2016 through 2024 Model 3 and Model Y, which straddles the refresh. Most aftermarket filters stop at 2023. We could not establish where the real boundary sits.
• Mud flaps. The platform is shared but the body is 1 inch longer, and we found no published measurement of the arch openings either way.
• Rear seat covers and kick mats. Tesla changed the rear seat recline angle and the cushioning. Whether that is enough to break a stretch-fit cover depends on the cover, and we have not seen it measured.
